What an amazing weekend for the Intense Mavic Collective!

After Madeira, I had to take a well-needed break to deal with a hip issue I was dragging on for weeks. The intensity of training and competition left me with tendonitis on both hips. Obviously very painful when pedalling, I had to treat it correctly to be able to come back at my best for the rest of the season. My medical staff (osteopath and physio) got me back on my feet, which allowed me to get back to my training about 3 weeks ago. I was concerned about those 3 weeks not being enough to attack the next round of the EWS in perfect shape. But the new bike I received from Intense, a Carbine, got me so stocked that I put all these doubts behind me! I have never been on a 29er before and I was incredibly excited to give it a go. The bike looks amazing, and after just 3 rides home I felt comfortable enough to take it to the Dolomites.

I had heard about the Dolomites before, but never had the chance to spend some time there. Now I can honestly say it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to… The mountains up there are just magical.

 The race was also one for the books: alpine trails, soft loam and one very long queen stage made up for an epic day. I felt confident on my new kick ass bike and was happy with how I rode. Each stage was well balanced, alternating technical features and physical sections. The biggest struggle was to deal with the heat but I was very happy I could ride with the new Parachute from Met.

In the end, I can’t say what I enjoyed the most: the trails or the Italian ambiance. Both were amazing, and made this victory even more special.
